Beer Guide main site outage, under investigation

It has been reported to us that the main site is currently down and reporting 403 permission errors.

We are investigating what has caused, or is causing this. At this stage it seems as though the permissions on one of our key files has been changed preventing the site from loading and that no malicious (i.e. hacking) has taken place.

The blog and forums are still working fine it is just the main site.

Thank you to the people that reported this, I’ve been away on a training course and have very limited Internet access and had no idea. Even now I’m writing this whilst using a dodgey cafe for Internet access because I can’t even get decent 3G coverage at my hotel.
